How the public is betting SEC football in Week 5

Where is the money headed going into the second week of the SEC football season? Here’s a breakdown of some of the most interesting splits.

The SEC surely did not disappoint the conference’s opening weekend last Saturday. We saw the defending champs lose to Mississippi State and Mike Leach, whose era with the Bulldogs could not have gotten off to a hotter start. In addition, Georgia struggled with Arkansas till late and Vanderbilt nearly beat Texas A&M.

It was a thrilling weekend to be a college football fan, and let’s hope we see more incredible moments heading into the second week of SEC play. Here’s a look at where the money and bets are landing leading into Saturday’s games.

Auburn Tigers vs. Georgia Bulldogs

The biggest game of the weekend in college football will get rolling on Saturday night when the Auburn Tigers travel to play the Georgia Bulldogs. The public is siding with Georgia covering the 6.5-point spread as the favorites. Fifty-three percent of the bets are coming in on the Bulldogs in addition to 66% of the handle. In addition, the majority of bettors are going in on the over. Seventy-three percent of bets are siding with the over 45-point total including 51% of the money.

Texas A&M Aggies vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

In a matchup between a pair of top-15 teams according to the latest AP Top 25 Poll, Alabma is receiving a ton of bets its way heading into the game. Seventy-eight percent of bets are landing on the Crimson Tide, but it’s the handle that should be noted in this one. Of all bets placed, 95% of the money is going toward Alabama covering the -18 point spread at home.

LSU Tigers vs. Vanderbilt Commodores

As LSU recovers from a season-opening loss to Mississippi State, the point total is interesting to check out heading into this game. With the point total set at 50.5 points, only 13% of the bets are being placed on the under. Despite 87% of bets going after the over, 78% of the money is on the under in this game in quite a drastic split.
