In the only welterweight bout of UFC Vegas 12, Cole Williams will take on Jason Witt in a preliminary card fight live from Las Vegas, Nevada, this Saturday and also available on ESPN+.
Witt will enter this favored by a slim margin, one of the closest fights on the card. With a 17-6 record, “The Vanilla Gorilla” has just one UFC fight to his name, a loss to Takashi Sato on June 27, 2020. Sato knocked out Witt in 48 seconds. That doesn’t tell the full story for a fighter that has seven submission victories to his name.
Associated with Glory MMA & Fitness, the 34-year-old has shown the ability to both grapple and strike in MMA. We were barely able to see if he can take that to the UFC in his lone first-round loss. And his opponent’s resume is surprisingly very similar.
Cole “Havoc” Williams has one UFC fight on his resume and lost that in the first round. He was submitted by Claudio Silva back in August of 2019. With an 11-2 MMA record, Williams’ MMA victories have included four knockouts, four submissions and three decisions. Before that Silva fight, Williams was riding a nine-match win streak.
He’ll look to get back to winning against Witt in a bout of two fighters looking to show they belong at the UFC level.
