Report: 49ers are ‘hopeful’ Tevin Coleman will play Week 8

The 49ers won’t have Raheem Mostert of Jeff Wilson this week, but they could get Tevin Coleman back in the fold for Week 8.

The San Francisco 49ers will be without Raheem Moster and Jeff Wilson Jr. this week, but they could get veteran Tevin Coleman back, per Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports. Coleman has been designated to return from I.R,, but not activated yet, which means he isn’t listed on the injury report. But, he has been practicing and getting a heavy workload according to Maiocco.

Coach Kyle Shanahan wants to see how Coleman’s knee responds at Friday’s practice before making the call, but it looks like he’s trending in the right direction. If Coleman can play, it will muddy the fantasy running back waters for the 49ers. Ja’Mycal Hasty and Jerrick McKinnon were in line to be the main backs this week against the Seahawks, but adding Coleman throws a wrench into fantasy managers who wanted to use either.

James Hasty has been playing well in his limited work over the last two games and is still the preferred fantasy play, but with Shanahan comes great risk when trying to pick running backs for fantasy football.
