The NASCAR Cup Series is headed to Martinsville Speedway this Sunday for the Xfinity 500. The race is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on NBC. Let’s go over the starting grid and who has the best odds to win on DraftKings Sportsbook.
NASCAR made changes to how qualifying in the three national series (Cup, Xfinity, Gander Outdoors Truck) in August. Three performance metrics are utilized, with each one weighted a little different. It breaks down as follows from the series’ previous event:
- 15% of a fastest lap time position
- 25% of the driver’s final race finish position
- 25% of the owner’s final race position
- 35% of the owner points position
Martin Truex Jr. (+325) will start in second and is the favorite after losing to his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch in the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Truex as docked 20 points for using an illegal spoiler two races but has been great at Martinsville in recent years. He has five top five finishes and two wins in his last seven races at the venue. Denny Hamlin and pole sitter Brad Keselowski have the second-best odds and are even at +550 while Busch sits at +850 following his first Cup Series win of the season.
