How and what to watch for No. 5 Georgia vs. Kentucky

Kentucky’s defense won’t be able to save the team single-handedly this week.

This week the 3-1 #5 Georgia Bulldogs head up to the Bluegrass State to take on the 2-3 Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday afternoon in an SEC tilt.

The Wildcats are built on their defense, giving up just 20 points per game. They’ve allowed less passing yards on the season than Georgia’s highly-touted unit as well and force offenses to turn the ball over. Kentucky has 10 takeaways on the year so far, nine of them via interceptions. The team’s offense leaves a lot to be desired though, with just 602 yards passing all season from starting quarterback, Terry Wilson. The offensive unit has only scored 13 touchdowns in 2020.

Georgia’s defense is basically as good as Kentucky, but the Bulldogs have a much more explosive offense as well. UGA gives up less yards on the ground to their opponents, and only gives up a few yards more through the air. The Bulldogs also create a ton of turnovers, with eight on the season. Offensively, the team averages 33 points per game and gets about 110 more yards of production than Kentucky does. Quarterback Stetson Bennett has nearly hit the 1,000 yard mark through the air and has tossed seven scores to three interceptions.

Both defensive units are really good in this one. Kentucky will do enough to slowdown Georgia, and the only thing you’ll need to worry about is the Bulldogs defense covering themselves via scoop-and-score or pick-six.
