How and what to watch for TCU vs. Baylor

This year’s Revivialry matchup pits two Big XII teams desperate to get things rolling in the right direction.

It’s Revivalry time in the state of Texas once again as the TCU Horned Frogs will travel down to Waco to renew their long standing rivalry with the Baylor Bears on Saturday.

After a three-week hiatus due to COVID, Baylor returned to the field last Saturday in a 27-16 loss to Texas. The offense sputtered until the fourth quarter when quarterback Charlie Brewer was able to shake off some of the cobwebs to find Gavin Holmes and John Lovett for a pair of touchdowns. Defensively, Terrel Bernard was all over the field for the Bears with 19 tackles and a sack.

Meanwhile, Gary Patterson’s Horned Frogs suffered their second straight setback with a 33-14 loss to No. 14 Oklahoma. OU QB Spencer Rattler was able to throw for 332 yards on just 13 completed pass on the TCU defense. Offensively, the Frogs wasn’t able to muster up much of an attack, only averaging three yards per carry in the defeat.

  • TCU has failed to cover the spread in each of its last six October games against non-AP-ranked teams.
  • Nine of TCU’s last 10 October games as a favorite against non-AP-ranked teams have gone UNDER the total points line.
  • Baylor lost as a one-point favorite in last year’s matchup between the two teams.

The Best Bet

This game is practically a toss up between two rivals who are trying to get things rolling as they reach the midway point of their respective Big XII schedules.

With this being a battle of two defensive-minded head coaches, don’t expect an explosion of points like in previous Baylor-TCU games.
