This week the 0-6 Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks will be looking to get their first win of the season when they welcome the 3-1 Appalachian State Mountaineers to Malone Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
ULM is one of the worst teams in the country. They’ve only scored more than 17 points once this year and have been held to single digits twice. The Warhawks give up close to 200 yards on the ground each week and App State comes close to 300 yards on the ground every game on average. Mountaineers running back Daetrich Harrington has been very impressive, with seven rushing touchdowns and 438 yards in just four games. Quarterback Zack Thomas is no slouch though, powering the passing game to 805 yards and six scores through the air.
ULM will need to get some sort of positive gains on offense, but that won’t be easy. They only get 63 yards on the ground each week, though they have seen some success in the passing game. QB Colby Suits has 1,407 yards and seven scores, but a lot of those numbers have come in garbage time. He also has five interceptions on the season. The App State pass defense is good too, allowing opposing QBs to complete just 44% of their throws. The unit has also only given up one passing score all season while getting five interceptions.
