On Saturday night the 4-1 North Carolina Tar Heels head north to take on the 1-4 Virginia Cavaliers in a game that shows how far the ‘Hoos have fallen from last season’s ACC title game appearance.
The Cavs are struggling having lost four in a row. Last week was promising though, only falling by five points to the No 11 Miami Hurricanes. Quarterback Brennan Armstrong has just seven scores and six picks through the air, but the ground attack is promising, racking up close to 200 yards per game. It’s lead by Wayne Taulapapa, who averages nearly five yards per run and has three scores as well.
Those numbers are measly next to the Tar Heels offensive unit however. UNC averages 531 yards each game and UVA’s defense gives up over 400 each week on average. North Carolina Running back Michael Carter averages 7.9 yards per carry and has three scores. He should have a huge day against a Cavaliers defense that has given up close to 500 yards on the ground over the last three weeks.
Overall this season they’ve also had a tough time stopping the pass too, allowing nine scores overall and more than 600 yards in just the last two weeks. QB Sam Howell has been having a good year, and could have a big game on Saturday.
