How and what to watch for Louisiana vs. Texas State

Offensively these teams match up well. Defensively... that’s a different story.

The 4-1 Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns got back on track last week and look to continue its hot season when they travel to Texas to take on the 1-6 Texas State Bobcats on Saturday night.

The Ragin’ Cajuns lost a nail biter to Coastal Carolina earlier this season, but other than that the team’s been perfect. The success has come thanks in large part to the team’s running game and defense. Louisiana averages more than five yards per rush and has scored eight touchdowns this season on the ground. They’ve run the ball more than they’ve passed in every game this year and it’s all thanks to running backs Elijah Mitchell and Trey Ragas, who have a total of seven scores and 556 yards between them.

The Texas State defense gives up 34.6 points per game and have allowed 13 rushing touchdowns in 2020. Offensively the Bobcats are doing what they can to try and stay competitive. They’ve yet to run for 200 yards in a single game, but the team’s passing game has been decent. Quarterbacks Brady McBride and Tyler Vitt have combined for 14 touchdowns, but the Ragin’ Cajun defense allows under 200 yards passing each week, and has taken the ball away eight times.

The Best Bet

The point total is the best bet here. Texas State’s defense has struggled in 2020, so expect the Ragin’ Cajuns to score a bit more than they normally do. That should put the total over 56... easily?
