In NFL DFS, picking the right quarterback regardless of price can put you in the driver’s seat to win your respective contest. Sometimes, you might have to spend $8,000 for Patrick Mahomes, depending on the matchup, or you may take a flier on Justin Herbert. Here are some top quarterback plays over and under $6,000 on DraftKings in Week 8.
Quarterbacks over $6,000
Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings ($7,600)
It is only right we start off this list with the bad man himself in Aaron Rodgers. Ever since his disappointing performance in Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rodgers has been on a tear.
In Week 7 against the Texans, Rodgers showed everybody that he still has it and should be in the conversation for the NFL MVP. He completed 67.6 percent of his passes for 283 yards and four touchdowns in Green Bay’s 35-20 victory. It was the third time this season that Rodgers has thrown for four touchdowns and zero interceptions. Last Sunday’s performance also netted him 27.3 DraftKings points.
On Sunday, Green Bay will be facing the Minnesota Vikings for the second time this season, and Rodgers could be due for another ridiculous performance. When he played them in Week 1, Rodgers scored 33.8 DraftKings points and torched Minnesota’s secondary for 364 passing yards and four touchdowns.
Carson Wentz, Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys ($6,200)
Wentz has not played like a top-10 or even top-15 fantasy quarterback due to his turnover problem and losing important offensive skill players. However, he started to turn his fortunes around last week against the New York Giants. The former second overall pick completed 58.1 percent of his passes for a season-high 359 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. He also scored a rushing touchdown, giving him five on the season.
This weekend, Wentz and Co. get an opportunity to face a beleaguered Cowboys’ defense that is prone to giving up big passing plays. Last week, Dallas allowed WFT QB Kyle Allen to score 16.9 DraftKings points. Then in the previous week, Arizona QB Kyler Murray recorded 28.9 DraftKings points against the Cowboys.
Quarterbacks at or under $6,000
Philip Rivers, Indianapolis Colts vs. Detroit Lions ($5,900)
Philip Rivers is not an option to be super high on, but with the matchup this weekend, he could provide you with some value. This season, the veteran gunslinger has been up and down.
In some games, Rivers looks like he still has something in the tank. But in other games, bad Rivers from last season shows up. A couple of weeks ago versus the Bengals, good Rivers showed up as he scored 28.7 DraftKings points. It was the first time this season that Rivers reached this feat.
On Sunday, he’s going up against a Lions defense that is giving up 258 passing yards per game, which is good for 21st in the NFL. It will be imperative for him to make the smart play and not turn over the ball.
Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders vs. Cleveland Browns ($5,500)
If you do not want to spend a hefty amount of your salary cap on a top-tier QB, then Derek Carr might be a perfect option for you. The veteran quarterback is surprisingly having a good year and is one of the main reasons why the Raiders are competitive in the AFC.
This season, Carr is completing 72 percent of his passes for 1,726 yards, 13 touchdowns, and two interceptions. He has also scored at least 20 DraftKings points in the last three games. You can expect that trend to continue this weekend against the Browns, who are giving up 296.4 passing yards per game on defense. Their defense also ranks 19th against opposing QBs (OPRK).
