The Washington Football Team has committed itself to a running back-by-committee approach since releasing Adrian Peterson and has gotten contributions from Antonio Gibson, J.D. McKissic, and Peyton Barber out of the backfield. Washington will be up against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4, so rushing yards could be hard to come by. Can any of Washington’s backs be impact players against one of the NFL’s best defenses?
Fantasy Football analysis: Washington RBs Antonio Gibson, JD McKissic
Gibson was considered a gadget player when he entered the league, but has emerged as Washington’s most reliable running back option. He almost has twice as many carries as J.D. McKissic and leads Washington in rushing yards (140). McKissic has two more targets than Gibson and 22 more receiving yards, but Gibson has a team-high 37 touches. Terry McLaurin can’t beat the Ravens’ secondary alone, so Washington will need plenty of help from the backfield.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Gibson touches the ball more than any other player not named Dwayne Haskins and has scored two of Washington’s eight touchdowns. Start the rookie over McKissic, who won’t get as many carries and will likely be in a secondary role alongside Barber.
