What to do with Alvin Kamara, Latavius Murray in Week 4 fantasy football

This looks like a great matchup for the Saints backfield.

When Alvin Kamara has the ball in his hands, magic happens. That’s probably why the New Orleans Saints go to such great lengths to get him the ball. He leads the league in yards from scrimmage with 438, and if he’s in your fantasy lineup, there’s a good chance you’re leading your league too. That’s especially true this week when the Saints play the Lions.

Fantasy Football analysis: Saints RBs Alvin Kamara, Latavius Murray

A look at Kamara’s stat sheet reveals numbers that look more like a wide receiver. He’s got 27 receptions, second most in the NFL, to go with 285 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. He runs the ball too, with 153 rushing yards and another three scores so far this season. That’s putting him in Christian McCaffery fantasy unicorn territory. He’s a slam dunk to put up big numbers again this week in Detroit.

Murray still factors into the Saints’ game plans despite Kamara’s dominance. He had the edge in carries last week, 12 to six, but both players finished with 58 rushing yards in that contest. Murray hasn’t found the end zone this season either, depressing his fantasy value. He’s definitely got a role to play, but it’s just not a big enough part to merit fantasy consideration.
