The New Orleans will be without Michael Thomas again this week. So, all eyes turn to Emmanuel Sanders and Tre’Quan Smith to pick up the load. Could it lead to good numbers and a win for Drew Brees and the Saints?
Fantasy Football analysis: Saints WRs Emmanuel Sanders, Tre’Quan Smith
Beginning with the veteran Sanders, his role has increased every week. This past one he caught four of five targets for 56 yards and a touchdown. The biggest hindrance to his value is actually at the QB spot, Brees currently owns a league-worst 4.61 average air yards per attempt. If Sanders can be a bigger red zone threat then he can provide value.
Smith recently had a lion’s share of targets despite not hauling in a TD being second in targets behind only Alvin Kamara. A real deep threat with his speed, Smith has been unable to use it given Brees arm limitations this season.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
I’d start Sanders and sit Smith. Brees arm is cause for concern and Sanders is a proven fantasy receiver.
