The NFL postponed the Patriots-Chiefs Week 4 matchup and now has decided on a day and time. Adam Schefter is reporting the game is being moved to Monday with a 7:05 p.m ET kickoff on CBS. The Falcons-Packers Monday Night Football game will be moved from 8:15 p.m. to 8:50 p.m. and continue to air on ESPN.
It’s important to note this is pending no new positive tests on Monday. The Patriots are expected to travel to Kansas City Monday morning and they likely will have another round of point-of-contact testing.
Normally, Patriots-Chiefs would have gotten broad national coverage on CBS, but it would not have been airing in every market. This week, everybody will get to see the game. Additionally, by moving Falcons-Packers back 35 minutes, we’ll get an overlap of a little over an hour for the two games.
As a sports fan residing on the east coast, the big plus to this is not having a super late second game. Traditionally, the NFL’s Week 1 doubleheader has one game start in the 7 p.m. hour and one game start just after 10 p.m. That results in football until after 1 a.m. This will still be a late evening of football, but not quite like Week 1.
