Patriots-Chiefs fantasy points projections to help you set your lineup

Cam Newton won’t play in Week 4 after testing positive for Covid-19, so Brian Hoyer will start in his place in the Patriots’ Week 4 game against the Chiefs. We go over fantasy football points projections for each team.

The New England Patriots will visit the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium for a Week 4 matchup on Monday. Cam Newton’s unexpected positive Covid-19 test ahead of the matchup could have serious fantasy football implications for the away team. Let’s go over what to look out for in the matchup.

Brian Hoyer is set to start for Newton, and having him fill in should limit the potential of the Patriots’ offense. Newton’s athleticism gives New England another layer on offense. He has four rushing touchdowns on the year and makes defenses think twice before sending pressure at him. Hoyer hasn’t shown that he can be consistent making plays with his legs and played behind Jacoby Brissett in 2019, so it’s safe to say that he could have a hard time making the most of the Patriots’ limited receiving corps.

The Chiefs are coming into this game very healthy and are still probably the most talented offense in the NFL. While Patrick Mahomes will be up against a defense that was one of the best in the league last season and features reigning Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore, he has plenty of weapons to deploy against New England. Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire can all be viable fantasy options.

New England’s upside will be limited by Hoyer starting under center, but Kansas City should be feeling confident after putting up 34 points against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3. Here are some ESPN PPR points projections to give you an idea of what you can expect from key players on each side.
