We’re a quarter of the way through the 2020 NFL season, and there’s a lot to take away from the first four weeks. Some teams have exceeded the expectations set for them while others have imploded. Super Bowl odds on DraftKings Sportsbook have moved quite a bit for some teams. Let’s go over some of the teams in the best and worst situations so far.
Plenty of people predicted that Buffalo could see improvement following Tom Brady’s departure from the New England Patriots, but few thought the Bills would get off to a 4-0 start thanks to the arm talent of Josh Allen. He has thrown for 1,326 yards and 12 touchdowns with a single pick. Allen has taken a tremendous leap as a passer since last season, and his team’s Super Bowl odds reflect that. The Bills were +2500 before Week 1 and improved to +1700 ahead of their Week 3 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Their odds will likely improve ahead of Week 5.
The Seahawks had the sixth best odds to win the Super Bowl at +2000 ahead of Week 1, and that mark has jumped to +100 thanks to Mr. Unlimited’s stellar start. Russell Wilson has emerged as an MVP frontrunner and leads all players with 14 touchdown passes. His connection with Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf has given Seattle one of the most dangerous passing attacks in the league. The Seahawks’ defense has been terrible, but having a quarterback that knows how to win better than most others has its advantages.
The Cowboys opened up the year with the fifth best Super Bowl odds at +1500 ahead of Week 1 and dropped to +1800 ahead of their Week 4 matchup against the Cleveland Browns, which they lost. Dak Prescott is on pace to break the NFL’s single-season passing yards record and has racked up 1,690 so far this year. Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup are all on pace to notch over 1,000 receiving yards this year, but Dallas is 1-3. Luckily for the Cowboys, The NFC East is a garbage fire and the Philadelphia Eagles lead the division with a 1-2-1 record.
The Falcons had middling Super Bowl odds at +5000 ahead of Week 1 and dropped to +10000 after opening the 2020 season with an 0-4 record. While they have a star-studded receiving corps, their defensive incompetence has reached new heights in 2020. Atlanta gave up more points than any team in the NFL through Week 3, and have blown two sizable fourth quarter leads. Even the Carolina Panthers, who are halfway in rebuilding mode, are 2-2 with an injured Christian McCaffrey. Many expected the Falcons to have a bounce back year, but they’ve dug themselves quite a hole.
