Best available D/STs on the Week 5 waiver wire

Looking for help at D/ST? We take a look at two players widely available in Yahoo! leagues.

There are some tight ends widely available that either have good matchups heading into Week 5. With that in mind, here are two D/STs with under 50% ownership in traditional fantasy football leagues that managers can consider picking up in their leagues.

Arizona Cardinals (50 percent) vs. New York Jets

The Cardinals haven’t been outstanding on defense, but have a chance to have a big game in Week 5. Arizona will be up against the Jets, who have given up more fantasy points to D/STs than any team in the NFL. New York ranks second to last in points per game (16.8). The Cardinals have only given up 23 points per game and could post solid fantasy stats if they manage to get a takeaway against the undermanned Jets.

Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants

The Giants are the lowest scoring team in the NFL and only average 11.8 points per game. They’ve turned the ball over eight times in 2020 and rank second to last in total rushing yards. The Cowboys have given up 30+ points in three of their four games this season, but I like their odds against New York without Saquon Barkley. The Giants’ trio of running backs hasn’t done much of anything since Week 3.
