Saturday’s Conference USA matchup between the Florida Atlantic Owls and the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles has been canceled due to a Covid-19 outbreak at FAU.

The Florida Atlantic University football game scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 10 at Southern Miss has been postponed.

”The health and safety of our student-athletes will always be our highest priority as we deal with this pandemic,” said FAU Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian White. “We’ll continue to work diligently with Conference USA and Southern Miss to reschedule this game.”

An announcement will be made as soon as the game is rescheduled.

The Owls, based in Boca Raton, Florida, have already lost games against Minnesota, Stony Brook, Georgia Southern, and South Florida. This will be the first Conference USA game they’ll miss due to the virus. No numbers of positive tests or specific units of the team that have been infected have been released.

FAU is 1-0 this season thanks to a 21-17 win over Charlotte on October 3rd. Southern Miss is 1-3 after beating North Texas 41-31 on September 26th in their last outing.
