In a preliminary-card, middleweight bout on UFC Fight Island 5, Impa Kasanganay will meet Joaquin Buckley live this Saturday from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi and also available on ESPN+.
The undefeated Impa Kasanganay will enter this fight with an 8-0 record. He has one UFC bout which took place under two months ago, defeating Maki Pitolo via unanimous decision. The American has eight victories in MMA, but only two have not been decisions. As most of his fights go the distance, he’s shown resilience but an inability to finish his opponent. He averages 5.58 significant strikes per minute with a 52 percent strike accuracy. He also averaged 1.67 takedowns per 15 minutes, so he’s good at both striking and grappling. A 57 percent strike defense rate is also something notable.
His opponent, Buckley, is 10-3 at the MMA level and 0-1 in the UFC, losing in the third round via knockout to Kevin Holland just over two months ago. With seven knockouts in ten victories, he averaged 3.8 significant strikes per minute in his octagon debut. “New Mansa” didn’t have terrific numbers in his only UFC appearance, and for that he’ll come in as the underdog.
