Tale of the tape for Chris Daukaus vs. Rodrigo Nascimento

On the preliminary card of UFC Fight Island 5, Chris Daukaus will meet Rodrigo Nascimento in a heavyweight bout this Saturday live from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi and available on ESPN+.

Nascimento will open as the favorite. He’s an undefeated 8-0 in his MMA career with six submissions and two knockouts. His UFC main roster debut was a second-round submission against Don’Tale Mayers. “Ze Colmeia” is a 28-year-old who stands 6-foot-2, and can do a bit of it all. Including his Dana White’s Contender Series win over Michal Martinek, he’s he averaged 4.44 significant strikes per minute and hits with 56 percent accuracy. He also averaged 2.9 takedowns per 15 minutes in the promotion.

The Brazilian is looking to continue his dominance, but he’ll be facing a tough opponent in Daukaus. Also 1-0 in his UFC career, Daukaus defeated Parker Porter via first-round knockout just two months ago. Averaging 8.28 significant strikes per minute and landing 62 percent of his swings, the Philadelphian was accurate and powerful. He’s a good defender and comes in at 6-foot-2 as well. Of Daukaus’ nine victories, eight have been via knockout.

This should be an all-out brawl, likely with little need for the judges.
