Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will face the New York Jets this week.
This is going to be fun.
Fantasy Football analysis: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes
Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. Mahomes has typically carried his fantasy managers to victory, week in and week out. In Week 7, however, he left the team’s snowy Denver matchup with just 12 fantasy points despite the fact that the Chiefs put 43 points on the scoreboard. Everything about that feels like an anomaly. And yeah, the Chiefs will probably win by three touchdowns again this weekend and take it easy for the entire fourth quarter. But the odds of Mahomes not producing fat stats when the Chiefs score 40+ again are slim.
The Jets’ pass defense, unlike their franchise in general, has not been laughable this year. They’ve allowed only the 18th-most fantasy points per game to opposing QBs. However, matchups hardly matter for Mahomes, and obviously there’s no contest here when you compare the talent of these two rosters. He’ll be good.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
The only concern regarding whether or not to start Mahomes against the Jets is his price tag on DraftKings. It’s a season-high $8,100. The only QB to cost more than $8,100 in any week this season is Lamar Jackson back in Week 2 ($8,200). So, as much as Mahomes’ fantasy managers are looking forward to him laying waste to the Jets, he is not an obvious start in DFS.
