How to handle Mason Crosby’s injury in Week 8 fantasy football

Mason Crosby is on the Packers final injury report for Week 8. We break down what it means for fantasy football roster decisions.

Game status: Crosby is ACTIVE for Week 8.

Game day update: The Packers did NOT add a kicker to the active roster on Saturday, which means Crosby WILL be kicking against the Vikings.

Un oh, it’s a kicker injury. The Green Bay Packers may be without Mason Crosby this week against the Minnesota Vikings. He’s dealing with an injury to his left calf and his back that forced him to miss practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but he was able to get in some limited work on Friday. The team has listed him as questionable for this week’s game.

Fantasy impact: Mason Crosby (left calf, back)

Crosby has the longest active streak among kickers at 214 regular season games. So far this season, he’s been a perfect nine-for-nine on field goal attempts and 22-for-23 on extra points. Complicating the Packers’ special teams picture even more is long snapper Hunter Bradley dealing with a groin injury.

Given the unknown around Crosby’s status, it might be best to look elsewhere for kicker help. In all likelihood, the Packers won’t have much trouble scoring touchdowns against the Vikings defense anyway, so the kicker isn’t likely to see much work.
