The New England Patriots offense is struggling to get on track, but one player who has stood out is wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. With Julian Edelman out indefinitely and N’Keal Harry working through the concussion protocol, Meyers has emerged as Cam Newton’s favorite target.
Over the past three weeks, Meyers has been targeted 30 times, which is better than sixth in the league during that stretch. On Monday against the Jets, he caught 12 of 14 targets for 169 yards, and while he has yet to find the end zone, he’s turning into a PPR machine in that offense.
Meyers is currently rostered in 10.3 percent of leagues, but that is sure to go up when the waiver wire runs early Wednesday. Harry’s potential return this week will impact Meyers, but he would seem to be building up some rapport with Newton. There are no guarantees, but without much else in the passing game, Meyers should remain productive.
