UPDATE: DraftKings Sportsbook oddsmaker Johnny Avello would install McGregor as the favorite at -170 and Poirier as the underdog at +150.

The biggest name in mixed martial arts has will return to the octagon, as Conor McGregor will compete against a foe he’s defeated before in Dustin Poirier as the main event of UFC 257 at lightweight (155 lbs.), scheduled for January 23rd in Las Vegas.

McGregor hasn’t been in the cage since January 18th, when he stopped Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in just 40 seconds via head kick. The Irish fighter is 22-4 in MMA, and despite murmurings about this fight taking place in AT&T Stadium in Arlington, he’s decided to make his return to the UFC in what appears to be in Las Vegas.

McGregor is 22-4 in MMA, with his last loss coming to the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov in October of 2018. “Notorious” has never lost via decision or by being knocked out, as all four of his defeats are by submitting to his opponent.

These two have fought before as McGregor stopped Poirier on September 27th, 2014 in just 106 seconds via TKO. That bout was at featherweight (145 lbs.), and Poirier (26-6) is 10-2 since including a win over Max Holloway to hold the interim lightweight UFC Championship. He also fell to Nurmagomedov in his first defense to lose the strap.

This will be an event that will draw massive pay-per-view buys across the world, and it’s assured McGregor has locked in a major portion of that cash for himself. The winner likely gets another shot at Nurmagomedov if they can convince him to come out of the retirement he announced after his defeat of Justin Gaethje two weeks ago, and if that’s McGregor the rematch would shatter all box office records across the world.

It would seem McGregor will be the betting favorite when the cage door opens, but we’ll post the official odds as soon as they’re available from DraftKings Sportsbook.
