UPDATE: First round play is scheduled to resume at 10:22 a.m. ET, per PGA Tour Comms.
The Masters got underway Thursday morning, but was quickly suspended due to rain. First round tee times were initially delayed by ten minutes, and after nine players got through the first hole, play was suspended at 7:37 a.m. ET. There is no word yet on when play will resume. Showers and potential thunderstorms remain strongly in the forecast before 2 p.m., with a chance of rain after 2 p.m.
Corey Conners, Lucas Glover, C.T. Pan, Charles Howell III, and Jazz Janewattananond all finished with a par on their first hole of the tournament. Sandy Lyle, Jimmy Walker, and Brandt Snedeker each bogeyed their first holes. Amateur Yuxin Lin double bogeyed his first hole.
PGA Tour Comms officials noted that the the last round at the Masters that was not completed the day it started was the third round in 2006. Adverse weather caught a four hour delay and then the round was called for the day to darkness with 36 players still on the course.
