The Indiana Hoosiers look to remain undefeated this week as they head to East Lansing to take on the 1-2 Michigan State Spartans on Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans have been blown out twice, but also beat Michigan in a close game at The Big House. In their two losses this year, Michigan State has coughed up the ball 10 times. In its one win, they didn’t turn it over at all. That doesn’t bode well going up against an Indiana defense that has forced multiple turnovers in each game of 2020. The Spartans scored just seven points last time out and before that, they had scored 27 points in its previous two games, so the offense isn’t going to blow the brakes off anybody.
The Hoosiers stats don’t jump off the page through three games either, but quarterback Michael Penix Jr. just seems to be able to find ways to win. He struggled Week 1 against Penn State, but since then he’s gotten better each week, throwing for 342 yards and three scores last week against Michigan. The ground game has been good enough, eclipsing 100 yards in its last two games, but failing to hit 150 either time. The best thing this team does is protect the football, and through three games the Hoosiers have only coughed up the ball twice.
