Gameday Update — Denver’s one-two punch is healthy but could be poised for a third straight week with limited touches. Gordon is more likely to lead the Broncos in carries and is more of an asset through the air than Lindsay.

The Denver backfield as a whole performed poorly in Week 9, with Phillip Lindsay and Melvin Gordon combining for a total of 6.0 fantasy points. That attack was focused mostly through the air, as Lindsay and Gordon proved to be inefficient in the opportunities they were given. Will things improve for this Denver duo in Week 10? We break down the fantasy analysis below.

Fantasy Football analysis: Broncos RBs Melvin Gordon, Phillip Lindsay

Melvin Gordon has averaged a respectable 13.1 fantasy points per game so far this season, but that number alone doesn’t tell the full story. He has received 13.7 carries per game and has consistently been involved in the passing game. Typically a workload of this size would yield higher point totals. The bottom line is that Melvin Gordon is not finding a way to capitalize on his opportunities. With Phillip Lindsay fully healthy once again, this only further hurts Gordon’s value. If there is one positive, it is that Gordon will face a Raiders defense that has allowed the sixth most PPR points to opposing running backs this season. His workload and match-up keep him in RB2 territory despite his poor efficiency.

Phillip Lindsay has seen limited usage since his return from an early season injury. He hasn’t received double digit carries since Week 6, when Melvin Gordon was out, and he has only manged two receptions all season. Lindsay has shown in the past that he can be productive with a sufficient workload, but his limited usage makes him nothing more than a flex play with a plus matchup.
