Don’t look now but we’re already reaching the midway point of the abbreviated 2020 Mountain West football schedule, and a pair of 2-1 teams will try to maintain their spot near the top of the standings when the Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors fly to southern California to meet the San Diego State Aztecs.
Trailing New Mexico at halftime, first year Hawai’i head coach Todd Graham’s Warriors were able to charge up in the second half to overtake the nomadic Lobos for a 39-33 conference victory. Despite throwing an interception in the fourth quarter, quarterback Chevan Cordeiro powered the Warriors’ offense in the second half by throwing a pair of touchdowns to Zion Bowens and one to leading receiver Nick Mardner. He finished the day with 410 passing yards and four touchdowns.
Meanwhile, turnovers derailed Brady Hoke’s Aztecs late in a 28-17 home loss to San Jose State. Back-to-back SDSU drives ended with a fumble and an interception, respectively, before a fumbled punt return allowed San Jose State to retake possession and eventually punch in a TD to put them up 11 late.

The Best Bet
San Diego State’s defense has been stingy through three games, earning them a No. 10 ranking in Bill Connelly’s defensive SP+ rankings. They’ve only given up 40 points total this season and are limiting opposing offenses to 3.9 yards per play.
Conventional wisdom says to lean on the under in San Diego State home games and even with Cordeiro slinging it for Hawaii, the under is the play here.
Pick: Under 52.5
