Game day update: The Bengals downgraded Mixon from doubtful to out on Saturday. Samaje Perine was a full participant in practice all week, but was listed with a knee injury. This is the Gio Bernard show in Week 10. ESPN projects Bernard with 14.3 points in PPR leagues and Perine with 5.7 points.

It would appear the Cincinnati Bengals will be without running back Joe Mixon again this week. That leaves their backfield in the hands of Giovani Bernard and Samaje Perine. They face the Pittsburgh Steelers this week. Here’s a look how the shuffle and the matchup changes the fantasy football calculus.

Fantasy Football analysis: Bengals RB Giovani Bernard, Samaje Perine

Bernard and Perine both had productive days in their last outing, back in Week 8 before their bye in Week 9. Bernard led the way, carrying the ball 15 times for 62 yards and a touchdown. He also scored his second receiving touchdown in two weeks, and he’s been getting regular targets in an offense that throws the hell out of the ball. Perine had 10 carries in his last outing for 32 yards, but he did find the end zone.

Clearly, Bernard is the better play of the two because of the volume of work he’ll get without Mixon in the mix. The Steelers are heavily favored, but they have shown some vulnerability to running backs in their last two games.

Start Giovani Bernard. Sit Samaje Perine.
