The Northwestern Wildcats and Purdue Boilermakers will head into this weekend’s matchup both undefeated with kickoff set for Saturday night in Evanston.
Northwestern checks in ranked No. 23 with a 3-0 record, already matching its win total from 2019 in an unprecedented 3-9 season. The Wildcats started out their season with a blowout win over Maryland before squeaking out a one-point win over Iowa and beat Nebraska 21-13 last weekend despite being outgained by 125 yards. Peyton Ramsey completed 16 of 27 passes for 169 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Drake Anderson carried the ball 18 times for 89 yards with a touchdown.
As for Purdue, it has had two weeks to prepare for the Wildcats after last weekend’s scheduled game with Wisconsin was canceled due to the Badgers’ coronavirus outbreak. Purdue won its season opener 24-20 over Iowa and beat Illinois on the road in its last time out on Halloween with the Fighting Illini down to their fourth string quarterback. Aidan O’Connell put up pretty impressive numbers, completing 29 of 35 passes for 371 yards and two touchdowns with David Bell finishing with 122 yards and a touchdwon and nine catches. Milton Wright also reached 100 yards receiving with a score on six catches.
Northwestern had a five-game winning streak in this series, but Purdue got the win in 2019 on the road 24-22.

The Best Bet
Let’s go with the Wildcats as they continue to erase the disaster that was 2019. Purdue was impressive in Week 1, but letting Illinois be competitive with a fourth string QB isn’t the best look even with two weeks to get ready for this game. The Wildcats can bore you to death, but they will win this game by a field goal or more using their running game against a Purdue defense that can be run on.
Pick: Northwestern -2.5
