In a 195 lbs. catchweight bout on the preliminary card for UFC Vegas 14, Brendan Allen will take on Sean Strickland this Saturday live from Las Vegas and available on ESPN+.
The 24-year-old Allen is entering the octagon as the favorite and a professional fighting record of 15-3. He is a perfect 3-0 in the UFC over the last two years. He was scheduled to fight last week but because of a positive COVID-19 test it got canceled.
That being said, the last time we saw “All In” Allen fight, he defeated Kyle Daukaus by unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 12 in June. The 24-year-old Allen is tactical striker, who can grapple when he needs to. He is averaging 2.67 strikes landed per 15 minutes with a striking accuracy of 60 percent. Allen’s takedown average per 15 is 1.42, while his submission average per 15 is 2.4.
The 29-year-old Strickland has a professional fighting record of 21-3 and will be looking to win his second match in two months. We just saw “Tarzan” Strickland on Halloween defeat Jack Marshman in Round 3 by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 12.
Strickland averages 4.64 strikes per minute with a striking accuracy of 36 percent. He also absorbs a ton of significant strikes, unlike Allen at 3.57 per minute. But he does a good job, defending against them at 67 percent. Strickland is outstanding at grappling with a takedown average of 1.42 and 57 percent accuracy.
Here are the odds and betting splits at DraftKings Sportsbook for Brendan Allen vs. Sean Strickland at UFC Vegas 14 on November 14th.
Odds and Betting splits
Brendan Allen: -120, (80% of action, 57% of bets)
Sean Strickland: -105, (20% of action, 43% of bets)
DraftKings DFS Values
Brendan Allen: $7,900
Sean Strickland: $8,300
Looking at this matchup on paper, this fight could go the full three rounds. The last time we saw Strickland fight, Marshman battled him until the final seconds of the fight. In that bout, “Tarzan” posted 83 fantasy points, which exceeded his fantasy points per fight average of 71.4 over his career.
Allen is averaging 102.8 fantasy points per fight and has been a top-tier DFS option whenever he’s on the fight card. As things stand, I do not see this fight being over quickly, meaning that we are likely looking at Round 2 or 3 finish. If that’s the case, take the young kid in Allen.
