How the public is betting No. 2 Notre Dame vs. Boston College

Notre Dame is coming off the best win of the college football season. Can it avoid a letdown against Boston College?

NCAA Football: Boston College at Syracuse Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are coming off the biggest win so far in the college football season when they beat the then-No. 1 Clemson Tigers on Saturday night at home. Notre Dame goes into its matchup on the road against the Boston College Eagles ranked as the No. 2 team in college football only behind Alabama. On the other side, Boston College had Clemson on the ropes two weeks ago, ahead 28-10 before the Tigers scored 24 unanswered points to avoid the upset.

So where are sports bettors going as we get closer to game time? Let’s take a look. All odds and info were provided by DraftKings Sportsbook.

Point Spread

Notre Dame enters this game as 12-point favorites on the road against Boston College. Even as the underdog, the Eagles are getting 54% of the money on their side to cover the spread in this game.

Is the public right? Yes. This is the ultimate letdown spot for Notre Dame coming off a massive win, while Boston College should be fired up for its biggest remaining game of the season. The Eagles will cover this spread.

Over/Under

The point total is resting at 49.5, and a ton of bets are on the over in this game. Of the wagers that have been made on the point total of this game, 96% of the bets are on the over including 90% of the handle.

Is the public right? No. When there’s this much of a push to one side, I tend to go in the opposite direction. Notre Dame put up 47 on Clemson, but that was in double overtime and the Irish’s strength is more on the defensive side of the ball. Neither team will reach 30 points.

Moneyline

Notre Dame’s odds to win this game on the moneyline is at -480, while Boston College has +340 odds to win this game outright. Eighty-six percent of the bets are on the side of the Irish including 77% of the handle.

Is the public right? Probably. It’s highly likely Notre Dame wins this game, but is -480 worth the risk? If I had to place a wager on this, I would bet a little on Boston College to win it outright as it has much better value than a Notre Dame moneyline bet would.
