What to do with Ryan Nall, Cordarrelle Patterson in Week 10 fantasy football

We go over Ryan Nall and Cordarrelle Patterson’s fantasy football outlook ahead of the Bears Week 10 matchup against the Vikings on Monday Night Football.

Monday update: The Bears have officially moved Lamar Miller up to the active roster.

Sunday update: Lamar Miller will be elevated to the active roster, per Ian Rapoport. This only gives us more reason to pass on playing Bears running backs this week.

The Chicago Bears will be without starter David Montgomery on Monday night when they take on the Minnesota Vikings. That means they will likely roll with Ryan Nall, Cordarrelle Patterson and possibly Lamar Miller. Miller could come off the practice squad to play, but he has been on there over a month and the team hasn’t felt they needed him. The team has until Monday to active Miller off the practice squad.

Fantasy Football analysis: Bears RBs Ryan Nall, Cordarrelle Patterson, Lamar Miller

Miller could come in and disrupt the touches, but I’m not going to worry too much about him unless we hear word that he’s going to see a nice chunk of work beforehand. Montgomery has seen good usage despite his lack of production, and I don’t see the team putting everything on Nick Foles’ arm this week. What I do see happening is a split in work between Patterson and Nall. Last week Nall caught all four of his targets for 35 yards and a touchdown and Patterson had three carries for 13 yards and also caught his four targets, gaining 27 yards on those. This was with Montgomery playing much of the game, but it would seem likely that Patterson will see carries, as he’s been the main backup to Montgomery this season.

But, I also expect Nall to get enough work to possibly win touches during the game, so nothing is set in stone in this backfield. The Vikings run defense has been middling, ranked 19th in DVOA against the run and 18th in fantasy points allowed. If we knew one of these backs would dominate the workload, he would make a decent start, but unless we can get some clarity, I’d rather go another route.

Miller could be the spoiler given his veteran experience. That being said, he’s no more than the deepest of fliers at this point.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Sit Nall and Patterson except in extremely deep leagues.
