Orlando Magic SG Evan Fournier will exercise his player option for the 2020-21 season, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Sunday. He will make $17 million in the final year of his deal with the Magic. Fournier is coming off a career year for Orlando, which was able to sneak into the playoffs as the 8-seed in 2019-20.
Fournier finished this past season averaging a career-high 18.5 points per game. He also shot a career-high 46.7 percent from the floor and 39.9 percent from long range in 66 starts for the Magic. With Fournier opting in, the only players who will become free agents on Friday are PGs D.J. Augustin and Michael Carter-Williams.
