Wednesday update: Darnold is not practicing on Wednesday, per Ethan Greenberg, which tracks with the report that he will not play in Week 11.

New York Jets coach Adam Gase says that Joe Flacco will get another start as Sam Darnold recovers from his shoulder injury, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Gase says they are cautiously optimistic Darnold will be back in Week 12 to face the Dolphins.

Joe Flacco had played poorly in his first two starts for Darnold, but in Week 9 he showed up in a big way. The Super Bowl MVP completed 18-of-25 passes for 262 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in a narrow loss to the Patriots on Monday night.

The Jets are winless through nine games, so keeping Darnold healthy is the number one concern at this point, but they must feel better about Flacco than they did a few weeks ago. Coming off their bye, Flacco will get to face a Chargers pass defense that’s been mostly below average this season and after his last game, there is some hope that he can help his receivers to useful fantasy days.
