The Miami Dolphins sat a healthy Jordan Howard and ruled Matt Breida out because of a hamstring injury ahead of their Week 10 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. While the running backs who were available seemed like a motley crew, Miami got an unexpected boost on the ground from Salvon Ahmed. The rookie is positioning himself to be worthy of picking up off the waiver wire ahead of Week 11.
Ahmed led the Dolphins with 85 rushing yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. The rookie tallied more touches (22) than every other back on the roster combined against Los Angeles, and that bodes well for his role in Week 11. Myles Gaskin won’t be available until Week 12 at the earliest because of his sprained MCL, so Ahmed could be a focal point in Miami’s offense until then. He’s rostered in 5 percent of ESPN/Yahoo leagues.
