Christian McCaffrey ruled out for Week 11 vs. Lions

Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey is dealing with a shoulder injury that could cost him a second straight week.

Where would you rank Mike Davis in Week 11?

Wednesday PM update: The Panthers made it official, announcing McCaffrey will NOT play in Week 11.

Wednesday AM update: McCaffrey is not expected to practice on Wednesday, per Ian Rapoport, which tracks with earlier reports he would not play in Week 11.

The Carolina Panthers are in a rough way coming out of a Week 10 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is dealing with a knee injury that has him day-to-day, per Ian Rapoport, and now comes word they are not expected to have Christian McCaffrey in Week 11 due to his shoulder injury, per Adam Schefter.

The McCaffrey injury is particularly concerning because Schefter is reporting, “the team still is preparing [for] a multi-week absence.” Mike Davis is a capable replacement for McCaffrey, but he’s no CMC. Davis can handle a sizable workload, but his efficiency is nothing like that of McCaffrey across both the run and pass games.

Carolina hosts the Detroit Lions in Week 11. The Panthers lost 46-23 to the Bucs on Sunday after giving them some first half trouble. Davis finished the game with 32 rushing yards on seven carries and 12 receiving yards on four receptions.
