The Los Angeles Clippers traded guard Landry Shamet to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for the 19th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. The Clippers then traded the pick to the Detroit Pistons for guard Luke Kennard. After the three-way trade, the Pistons selected Villanova G/F Saddiq Bey on Wednesday night virtually from ESPN’s headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut. So for a quick recap:
Clippers get — Kennard
Nets get — Shamet
Pistons get — No. 19 pick in draft
Let’s take a look at the Pistons third pick of the night. Detroit has already selected G Killian Hayes and C Isaiah Stewart via a different trade with the Rockets via the Trail Blazers.
First-round Pick Analysis
Saddiq is a Villanova guy coming from Jay Wright’s program. Because of that you know he’s basically going to be the perfect 3-and-D prospect, similar to Mikal Bridges from last season. Nova has had a great run of prospects lately, including Bridges, Eric Paschall, Donte DiVincenzo and Omari Spellman. The Pistons have had a hell of a draft, picking up a solid backcourt piece, a versatile wing and a hulking center down low.
