The 2020 NBA Draft is finally here and is set to begin on Wednesday. It is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN. The 2020-21 season is set to begin in December so the incoming rookie class won’t have much time to adjust.
Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball, and James Wiseman are considered to be the top prospects in the class but none of them stand out as the cream of the crop. The Minnesota Timberwolves seem to be undecided on who they’ll take with the first pick and their decision will directly impact the choices of the Golden State Warriors and Charlotte Hornets. There’s no telling who will come off the board first between these three but any one of them could blossom into superstars.
If you can’t watch this game on TV, you have the option to stream the draft on WatchESPN. If you don’t have cable, you can get a free trial from YouTube TV, Hulu with Live TV, AT&T TV Now, FuboTV, or Sling TV to stream it.
Who has the best odds to go No. 1 overall?
The line movement between Ball and Edwards for favorite to go No. 1 overall has been a roller coaster over the past week or so. At first, Edwards had been the favorite and he held that title for a long time until reports started leaning toward Ball last week. As a result, Ball jumped out to a big lead, topping out at around -205 to go first. That number has climbed back down and now it’s basically a toss up. Ball is at -121 and Edwards is at -118.
It seems to be a two-man show and there’s really no reason to consider Wiseman at +900. So who has the edge? I would say that Edwards is the safer pick and Ball is the flashier pick. If you’re the T-Wolves, do you go with the shiny toy or the ball of playdough? Ball has a high ceiling and could turn into an All-Star, while Edwards would need some grooming, but has an easier path to becoming a solid starter/rotation player. The way the money is going would suggest people are jumping back onto Edwards. For what it’s worth, he’s 2-for-4 in our staff mock draft predictions for Wednesday night.
