Thursday PM update: Kamara was officially a DNP on Thursday. He’s trending in the wrong direction for Sunday’s game against the Falcons.
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara wasn’t spotted at the start of Thursday’s practice, per ESPN’s Mike Triplett. Kamara was listed as limited with a foot injury on Wednesday and we won’t know his true designation until the injury report comes out later this afternoon. Kamara had a similar start to Week 9’s practices, so this could just be maintenance.
Kamara went off for three touchdowns last week and is the leading fantasy running back in PPR leagues this season. On the season he has rushed for 486 yards and seven touchdowns while catching 67 passes for 648 yards and four more touchdowns. He’s currently on pace for 119 receptions. The record is currently 116 receptions, which Christian McCaffrey broke last season. The closest running back to him this season is McCaffrey’s backup, who has 20 fewer receptions with 47.
Kamara will of course need to stay healthy to get his shot to break McCaffrey’s record, but until we hear something different, I expect Kamara will be able to play this week.
