Curtis Samuel: Early waiver wire option in Week 9

Curtis Samuel stood out on TNF with 54 scrimmage yards and two scores as a potential early waiver wire option in Week 9.

Carolina Panthers wideout Curtis Samuel is coming off his best game of the season. He caught five passes for 31 yards and score and also tallied three carries for 23 yards and a touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 8. He’s seemed like the odd man out in Carolina’s receiving corps because of how explosive Robby Anderson and D.J. Moore have been, but Teddy Bridgewater’s go-to third down target could be worth a waiver wire pickup ahead of Week 9.

Samuel saw his fantasy stock get a nice bump after his last performance but is still widely available in fantasy leagues. Samuel is rostered in just 37.1 percent of ESPN leagues. While he’s not even a top three option in the Panthers’ offense, their prolific passing attack makes him a candidate for breakout games here and there. A utility player like Samuel doesn’t need a ton of targets to be productive.
