Ahead of the 2020 NFL season, DraftKings Sportsbook set projected win totals for each NFL team. Some teams are well on their way to exceeding these win totals, outperforming the bar oddsmakers set for them prior to Week 1. Other teams need a bit more help to get there.
The Carolina Panthers entered this season projected at a 5.5-game win total. They also have a new head coach in Matt Rhule, who they hired from Baylor University, and a new quarterback in Teddy Bridgewater. The Panthers turned the page on the Cam Newton era in the offseason, signing Bridgewater to a three-year deal. They felt he would be the perfect guy to turn the franchise over too. Bridgewater has been a starter in the NFL before and, in his short stint with the New Orleans Saints, showed that he can make winning plays.
As of now, Carolina is only three wins from their surpassing the total and will have eight weeks to do it. To get to 5.5 wins, they will need to go 3-5, which would give them a record of 8-8. That isn’t bad, considering they have both Tom Brady and Drew Brees in their division. However, looking at their upcoming schedule, the Panthers’ next win might not happen until Week 11 against Detroit.
