Friday update: Kenyan Drake didn’t practice all week and is out against his former team, per Kyle Odegard. That will give Chase Edmonds the start and a likely start for your fantasy team this week.
The Arizona Cardinals are back from their bye, and they’re hoping to get some reinforcements sooner than later as they prepare for a Week 9 contest with the Miami Dolphins. Running back Kenyan Drake suffered an ankle injury in Week 7, but coming out of the bye, head coach Kliff Kingsbury said it’s not nearly as bad as what it first looked like, per Darren Urban.
Kingsbury told the media on Monday that Drake is “day-to-day” with his ankle injury, but he is not sure if Drake will play this Sunday. The Cardinals will get work in early this week, but they won’t have to submit an official practice participation report until Wednesday.
Chase Edmonds has served as a strong complement to Drake and would get the starting workload if Drake cannot go this weekend. In Week 7, Edmonds took over late in the fourth quarter and overtime after Drake got hurt, but it was primarily in a pass catching role. He finished the game with five rushes for 58 yards and seven receptions for 87 yards.
