Friday update: T.Y. Hilton is listed as doubtful, per ESPN’s Kimberley A. Martin. Hilton didn’t practice this week and is more out than doubtful it would seem. There’s no reason to push the veteran, as he hasn’t played well as it is and needs to be at full health. Zach Pascal could see a bump, but Philip Rivers has spread the ball very thin to his offensive players and will likely continue to do so.
Thursday Update: Head coach Frank Reich said Hilton will not practice on Wednesday, but will need to sometime during the week to possibly play on Sunday, per Kevin Bowen of 1070 The Fan.
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton was forced from their Week 8 matchup with a groin injury. On Monday, coach Frank Reich didn’t go into great depth on the injury, but did say that Hilton will be evaluated through the week, per The Athletic’s Stephen Holder.
It appears that Hilton is more day-to-day than week-to-week. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been contributing all that much this season. On the season he’s caught 22 of 39 passes for 251 yards and no touchdowns. His best game came when he saw 10 targets, but still caught just six for 69 yards. Maybe it’s Philip Rivers’ arm or Hilton’s age, but whatever it is, he’s lost most of his fantasy appeal.
With Hilton out, Zach Pascal led the team with six targets, which isn’t far from his norm. No single player really saw a big uptick in work, as Rivers targeted 11 players in all. And that’s likely what would continue if Hilton is out this week against the Ravens.
