UPDATE: Adam Schefter is reporting Kittle will miss eight weeks due to the injury.
The San Francisco 49ers will be without tight end George Kittle this Thursday against the Green Bay Packers, and he could miss time beyond that. Kittle suffered a small fracture in his foot on Sunday and will miss “extended time,” per Ian Rapoport.
Kittle’s injury comes just as the 49ers might be getting Jordan Reed back from injured reserve. Reed has struggled to stay healthy, but when on the field has been incredibly productive.
Ross Dwelley will get some additional time, but if Reed can return, he’s the better tight end. Before spraining his MCL in Week 3, Reed had 11 receptions for 85 yards and two touchdowns. Both scores came in Week 2 against the New York Jets.
