The San Francisco 49ers running back depth chart has taken hit after hit and currently only has two healthy backs on the roster. Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson are both on IR, and now Tevin Coleman is unable to practice after returning from IR over the weekend. The 49ers released an estimated practice participation report on Monday for Week 9 and Coleman was listed as DNP due to a knee injury, per Jennifer Chan.
Coleman missed a month due to an MCL injury and was making his return on Sunday. He did not return to the game after playing in the first quarter, and after the game, head coach Kyle Shanahan said he had re-injured the same knee.
The 49ers are facing the Packers on Thursday Night Football, and a quick turnaround makes it unlikely Coleman will be playing. JaMycal Hasty and Jerick McKinnon are the only other healthy running backs on the 53-man roster. The team has Austin Walter on the practice squad and could promote him if Coleman is unable to go on Thursday.
