The Rice Owls and North Texas Mean Green will be looking to get their respective seasons back on schedule when they play each other on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. ET in Denton, TX.
Rice (1-1) has not played in two weeks as their last game against Louisiana Tech was postponed because of positive COVID-19 tests. The last time we saw the Owls in action, they defeated Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles 30-6 on Halloween.
Rice senior quarterback Mike Collins completed 12-of-17 passes for 233 yards and four touchdowns. Senior wide receiver Austin Trammell was the game’s leading receiver with seven receptions for 143 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore running back Juma Ottavino led both teams in rushing with 111 yards on 25 carries.
As for North Texas (2-3), they haven’t played in almost a month because of positive COVID-19 tests in three-straight games. On Oct. 17, the Mean Green took down the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders, 52-35. UNT’s offense was clicking on all cylinders as they produced an impressive 768 yards of total offense. Sophomore quarterback Jason Bean was the star of the game, passing for 181 yards and two touchdowns, along with 169 rushing yards and three touchdowns. It was one of the many great performances we’ve seen in college football this season.

The Best Bet
Rice was favored earlier this week by 2.5, but the market makes a lot more sense with UNT ahead after Jason Bean’s last performance. Neither of these teams are good, but one has some upside, has had three weeks off, and is at home. That’s enough to win by at least a field goal
Pick: UNT -2.5
