The Arkansas State Red Wolves and Texas State Bobcats have one win each within the Sun Belt Conference in 2020. That will change Saturday when the two face off in Bobcat Stadium.
While Arkansas State has struggled within the conference this season, it does feature a capable offense. The unit ranks 78th overall in success rate entering the week with reigning Sun Belt Freshman of the Year Layne Hatcher and junior Logan Bonner leading a passing game that comes in at No. 50 nationally.
That aerial assault could give Texas State and its defense fits throughout the afternoon. The unit ranks 101th in success rate and 105th specifically against the pass. That weakness should open plenty of opportunities for Hatcher and Bonner to exploit and could lead to big days for senior receivers Jonathan Adams Jr., Dahu Green, and Brandon Bowling. Each of the three currently ranks among the top 10 in yards per game within the conference.
For the Bobcats to keep the game within reach, quarterback Brady McBride will need to provide better play than he has earlier in the season. The sophomore shared responsibilities with Tyler Vitt until the latter dislocated his wrist a week ago.
