Game day update: The Saints are sending out Taysom Hill, and while he has shown an ability to make plays as a runner, it’s not entirely clear how effective he can be as a passer. ESPN projects Hill to have 18 fantasy points against the Falcons. While reports indicated Jameis Winston would have no role, ESPN projects him with 1.2 points.
Although the Saints logged a win last week against the 49ers, it came with disastrous results as Drew Brees was pulled out of the game at halftime. It was later confirmed that Brees suffered multiple rib fractures and a collapsed lung on his right side. While an exact timetable for his return is unclear, he’s expected to be out at least two weeks, but that could easily be extended.
Fantasy Football analysis: Saints QBs Taysom Hill
While Taysom Hill has been touted as Brees’ backup, it was Jameis Winston who stepped in to finish out the game last week, throwing 6-for-10 and 63 yards. Since then, Hill has taken all the starter reps in practice throughout the week and according to several sources, will get the start this weekend against the Falcons. Hill recently signed a two-year contract worth $21 million, and he’ll have a huge chance this weekend to really show what he can do as he gets his first NFL start of his career.
In addition, Hill is still TE-eligible on ESPN, but not Yahoo and most other fantasy platforms. He saw more time as a TE in 2019 than as a QB, so was given that designation this year in fantasy. ESPN has said they will not change his eligibility before Sunday, so it would be mighty tempting to take advantage of the loophole and start Hill as a TE while slotting in another starting QB as well. Regardless, he’s a great option against a relatively weak Falcons defense in Week 11.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Taysom Hill at TE1 if he’s eligible in your league; start at QB1 otherwise.
