The Wisconsin Badgers and Northwestern Wildcats are ready for what should be a fun matchup between undefeated teams in the Big Ten West. The winner of this game will have the inside track to appear in the conference title game, assuming the winner gets in the required minimum of six regular season games.
While Wisconsin has been nothing but a successful program in the 21st century, it has had major struggles on the road with Northwestern, winning just once at Ryan Field since 1999.
So where are sports bettors going as we get closer to game time? Let’s take a look. All odds and info were provided by DraftKings Sportsbook.
Point Spread
Wisconsin is favored in this game by 7.5 points, and DraftKings bettors are siding with the favorite. The Badgers are getting 70% of the bets on their side as well as 72% of the handle.
Is the public right? The Badgers are a better team on both sides of the ball, and they should have a big advantage on offense, but Northwestern finds ways to keep games close when it has a good team. I’m going to go against the public and say the underdogs are the side to take here.
Over/Under
The point total is set at 44 on DraftKings, and bettors are all over the over. Ninety-five percent of the bets wagered on the total is going to the side of the over with 84% of the handle as well.
Is the public right? No. With these two defense and the styles of play involved, I’d say it’s unlikely both teams reach the 20-point mark. The Badgers have allowed just one offensive touchdown through two games, and nobody has scored more than 20 points against the Wildcats all year in four tries. Take the under.
Moneyline
Wisconsin’s moneyline odds are at -335 with Northwestern at +255. The bets are going in the Badgers’ direction with 89% of the bets and 87% of the handle to Wisconsin.
Is the public right? Yes. It’s hard to find any stats to show Northwestern will have much of an advantage in this game. The Wildcats’ best chance is to limit possessions for Wisconsin, drain the clock as much as possible and be opportunistic on defense to set up a short field. It may be ugly but in the end, the Badgers will get it done.
